Salley Jane Pierce's Obituary
Salley Jane Pierce, 88, of Clinton Twp, MI, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2025.
She was born on January 16, 1937, in Mesick, MI, the daughter of Norman and Julia (Burroughs) Pierce. Salley dedicated her life to caring for others, spending over 43 years serving her community at Mount Pleasant Community Hospital. Her work was not just a career, but a calling — she approached each day with compassion, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to doing things the right way.
Salley attended the Trinity Fellowship Church in Big Rapids, where she found spiritual strength and community. She was known for her willingness to help anyone in need, always the first to lend a hand and treating everyone with kindness and respect. Her generous heart and strong principles left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
A devoted sister, aunt, and friend, Salley cherished her family deeply. She especially loved traveling with them, creating memories that will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. She is survived by her sisters Vernita Burrows, Deanna Pierce, and Norann (Al) Buckland; her niece Leigh (Jim) Ruffner and their children David, Sarah, and Lilly; her nephews Todd (Christina) Burrows and their son Benjamin, and Rob (Carolyn) Buckland; as well as many cousins and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Mohnke Janowicz Funeral Home in Big Rapids. Family and friends are invited to gather beginning at 10:30 a.m. Salley will be laid to rest beside her parents at Highland View Cemetery in Big Rapids. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to Trinity Fellowship EFC or a charity of your choice.
