Lonny Lewis Gilman's Obituary
Lonny Lewis Gilman, born July 23, 1959, in Alma, Michigan, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories on February 2, 2025. The beloved son of Edward Gilman and Carolyn Bazaire, Lonny grew up in Barryton, Michigan, and graduated from Chippewa Hills High School.
After high school, Lonny’s adventurous spirit led him across the United States, working on oil rigs before settling into a lifelong career in construction. He was known for his resilience, and the kind of toughness that was matched only by his deep loyalty and love for his family.
Lonny met Wendy in 1985. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, adventure, and unwavering companionship for over 40 beautiful years. They raised two wonderful children, Sara (Josh) Wernette and Michael (Erika) Gilman, both of whom inherited his passion for the outdoors.
Lonny was a man of many talents and interests. He found joy in farming, hunting, fishing, and mushroom hunting; anything that allowed him to be surrounded by nature. He also had a remarkable talent for drawing, a creative gift that showcased his quiet, reflective side. His outgoing personality, quick wit, and sharp sense of humor made him the heart of every gathering, while his loving and caring nature made him the anchor of his family.
Lonny was the eldest of five siblings and shared a close bond with Mark, Lesly (Tim), Tony (Rita), and April. He was a devoted family man who valued loyalty above all.
He is preceded in death by his father, Ed Gilman, and his brother, Mark Gilman. Left to cherish Lonny’s memory are his loving mother, Carolyn Gilman; his devoted life partner, Wendy Narloch; children, Sara (Josh) Wernette and Michael (Erika) Gilman; grandchildren, Dustyn and Bradyn Wernette, and Noah, Melody, and Nick Gilman; siblings, Lesly (Tim), Tony (Rita), and April who will all forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
Per Lonny’s wishes, cremation will take place with no service to follow. His family will honor his life privately, surrounded by the love and memories he leaves behind.
