Linda L. Smith's Obituary
Linda L. (LaShell) Smith, age 77, of Mecosta passed away at her home surrounded by family on Thursday, August 7, 2025. She was born in Jackson, Michigan on December 16, 1947, to Keith and Elma "Midge" (Bilsborrow) LaShell. Linda attended Lakeview High School, graduating with the Class of 1967. On August 5, 1967, she married her high school sweetheart, William "Bill" Smith at St. Michael's Church in Remus. This marked the beginning of 58 years filled with love, family, laughter and adventures. Linda was employed by Lakeview Community Schools as a paraprofessional and bus driver, positively impacting students for more than 20 years before retiring in 2010. She was a great cook and enjoyed camping, antiquing, yard sales, flea markets, thrift shops and traveling. Linda and Bill spent many winters in Arizona and traveled by motorcycle to 47 states. Above all else, Linda loved her family and cherished the close bond they shared. Linda is survived by her beloved husband, Bill Smith of Mecosta; 3 daughters, Kelly Smith of Mecosta, Karri (Randy) Thomas of Mecosta, Abbey (Matt) Sellers of Remus; 10 grandchildren, Matt (Brittany), Courtney (Adam), Josh, Dylan (Kayla), Kelsie (Dalton), Kenzie (Dustin), Gage, Hunter, Madison, Aaron; 7 great-grandchildren; and sister, Lynette Marshall of Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Austin; parents, Keith and Midge; and her brother, Al LaShell. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Sylvester Community Church in Mecosta with Pastor Richard Taylor officiating. Interment at Hinton Township Cemetery will follow. The family will greet friends for visitation on Thursday, August 14 from 5:00-8:00 PM at the church.
