Lenora Yvonne Thon's Obituary
Lenora Yvonne Thon entered her eternal resting place on September 18, 2025, at Laurel Oaks in South Haven, MI under hospice care.
Lenora (Tootie) was born on July 25, 1937, in Lansing, MI. She was raised on the family farm with younger siblings, Charlotte and Larry. Lenora graduated from Morley High School in 1955. In 1958 she married Richard (Dick) Thon, and together they raised their children, Pamela and Michael on the Thon and Sons family dairy farm.
Lenora displayed an impeccable work ethic to her children. Often quoted, "nobody gives you anything for nothing, life is what you make of it with hard work." In conjunction with being a farmer's wife she worked at Wolverine Worldwide in Big Rapids, MI for over 25 years. She continued to work outside the home until the age of 70. Known to be frugal and resourceful with meal preparation and with money.
She cherished spending quality time with family and friends, attending church, playing board games, euchre, crocheting, and attending children and grandchildren's sporting events.
Lenora is survived by her children, Pamela Engle (Charles Replogle) and Michael (Carolyn) Thon; grandchildren, Nicholas Thon, Ashley Thon and Hailee Engle; sister Charlotte Kettler; brother Larry Mero; along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Leona (Schalow) Mero, and husband Richard.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Mohnke Janowicz Funeral Home in Big Rapids. Lenora’s family will greet friends beginning at 10 a.m., Saturday. She will be laid to rest next to Richard at Stanwood Cemetery.
