Joan Margaret Hipple's Obituary
Joan Margaret Hipple, 95, of Mecosta, passed away peacefully with her family by her side. Born on August 28, 1930, to Francis Shaughnessy and Margaret McGuire Shaughnessy, Joan lived a full and faith-filled life. She married the love of her life, Jack Hipple, Sr., on May 15, 1954, at Epiphany Parish in Detroit, and together they shared more than seven decades of devotion, partnership, and cherished memories.
A longtime member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Joan was a dedicated housewife whose warmth and steady presence defined her family’s life. She loved reading and took great joy in supporting many charities over the years. Her sharp wit, quick humor, and spirited personality were trademarks of her character, endearing her to everyone who knew her. She especially treasured time spent with her children and grandchildren, and her remarkable gift for storytelling will be lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of hearing her tales.
Joan is survived by her husband, Jack Hipple Sr.; her children, Patrick (Louise) Hipple, Mary (Paul) Ward, Jack (Miwa) Hipple Jr., and Jamie Hipple; her cousin, Mary Jo Halcin, numerous nieces and nephews; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her identical twin sister, Betty (Richard) Gaffney; and her beloved daughter, Kathleen Hipple.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, November 20th, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Remus, Michigan, with Father Tom Boufford serving as celebrant.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or St. Michael’s Catholic Church.
May her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
