  1. Sarah was an inspiration to all who knew her. My grandmother used the expression “Born aristocrat” to describe certain people, and Sarah fit those words to a T. She was gifted with great intelligence, humor, and wisdom, and used those gifts to help others.

She will be keenly missed by her friend Martha Seaman at Burcham Hills and by Martha’s children, Chica, Bill, Jack, and Martha.

  2. My Mother, Martha Seaman, lived with Sarah at Burcham Hills. Sarah was a wonderful friend to my Mother, and was someone who spent time thinking of nice things to do for other people. That’s a wonderful and uncommon trait. I live near Traverse City, and enjoyed listening to Sarah talk about her adventures here as a young woman. Her memory was astounding. I also enjoyed hearing about her work in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and living in Marquette. Sarah was an extraordinary person who enriched the lives of those around her.

  3. Sally Ferris was a wonderful woman. Her extended family of residents, family members and staff at Burcham Hills will miss her greatly. Sally was always on top of everything at Burcham Hills. She loved to scroll in the gardens and select flowers for the community to be placed in the lobby areas. While we will miss her dearly, she is now at rest in the arms of her husband and the lord and smiling down on us.

  4. As the gardener for Burcham Hills, I saw Sally frequently as she took several walks a day in the gardens and on the grounds. Sally delighted in the wonders of nature. Even when it became physically difficult for her to walk into the beds and cut garden flowers for the building, Sally found ways to provide cut flowers so that residents unable to visit the gardens could also enjoy nature’s beauty. This is only one example of Sally’s thoughtfulness. Sally’s good humor and intelligence were also greatly appreciated. She was truly a special person.
