Joan Marie Hamelund
Big Rapids –Joan Marie Hamelund, 87, of Big Rapids, went peacefully to be with her Lord on January 14, 2010.
She was born March 13, 1922 in Big Rapids the daughter of George and Lina (Larkin) Troupe. On October 31, 1942 Joan married Frank (Les) Hamelund who preceded her in death in 2004.
She is survived by two sons, David (Nancy) and John (Gloria) all of Big Rapids, and four grandchildren, Eric Kropf, Joseph, Jeana, Jacob Hamelund. Also surviving are one sister Betty Murtagh of Winthrop, New York and one brother Roger Troupe of Grand Haven plus many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Joan was a life long member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Lam T. Lee celebrant.
Burial will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mecosta County Meals on Wheels or St. Mary’s Building Fund.

Dear family of Joan Hamelund,
I am so very sorry to hear of Joan’s death. I have very fond memories of Joan and all the Troupe family, since Betty and Joan were classmates of my mom, Pauline Hansen Lange.
