Big Rapids – Ileta Mae Jones, Age 95, of Big Rapids, passed away Monday, December 14, 2009, at Altercare of Big Rapids.

 She was born January 15, 1914 in Rosebush, Michigan on the family farm, the daughter of Fay and Angline (Bellinger) Johnson.

  In 1938, she married William Paul Jones at her parents’ home in Remus, Michigan and he preceded her in death in 1997.  She was also preceded in death by her brother Sherwood (Short) Johnson and her son Jon Jones.  Ileta owned the La Charme dress shop in Remus in the late 1930’s and was active in church and social activities in Remus and Lake Mecosta areas.  She was a member of New Hope Methodist Church in Remus, Mary Martha and Eastern Star. Ileta had an amazing spirit an kindness, generosity and adventure and was loved by all who were lucky enough to know her. 

 Survivors include her son, Steve (Sally) Jones of Big Rapids; her five grandchildren, Beth (Frank) Pontrelli, Curt (Celia) Jones, Stuart (Nina) Jones, Matt (Leslie) Jones and Audrey (John) Losey; twelve great-grandchildren, her sister Alyce Johnson Chickering and several nieces and nephews. 

 Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2009  at the Mohnke Funeral Home with Pastor Victor Charnley officiating.  Burial will be at Wambolt Cemetery, Remus.  Visitation is Friday, December 18, 2009 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Mohnke Funeral Home.

 Memorial Contributions may be made to New Hope United Methodist Church or charity of choice.
