Big Rapids – Allen L. Brown, 74, of Big Rapids, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2009, at his residence.

He was born November 16, 1934, in Big Rapids, the son of Arthur and Emma (Bender) Brown, and graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1953. For many years, Allen worked for the City of Big Rapids Department of Public Works until retiring. 

Allen was an avid bowler, and also a staunch supporter of Big Rapids Cardinal Sports, rooting for the various teams. 

Surviving are his son Jeffrey of Muskegon; his daughter Missy Moss of Reed City; 3 grandchildren and 2 nieces.  He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Robert and Floyd. 

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 9, 2009, at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, with his family greeting friends after 10:00 a.m.   Memorial contributions in his name may be made for the American Heart Association.
