Louis A. Longuski

Big Rapids – Louis A. Longuski, 81, of Big Rapids passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at Woodland Hospice in Mount Pleasant.

 

He was born November 15, 1927, in Detroit, the son of John and Leona (Waterman) Longuski, and was a graduate of Detroit Mackenzie High School.

 

During World War II, Louis served with the US Army. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to the Detroit area, where he lived until moving to Big Rapids in 1987.

 

Louis was a member of St. Paul’s Campus Parish in Big Rapids.

 

On September 9, 1950, Louis married Jeanette T. Trybulec, and they were blessed with 7 children, James (Holly) Longuski of Lafayette, IN, Margaret Longuski of Big Rapids, Patricia (Craig) Dewey of Williamsburg, VA, Lora (Tony) Caputo of Bethany Beach, DE, Linda Longuski of Mount Pleasant, John Longuski, who passed away in 1980, and Joseph (Dawn) Longuski of Lake Orion; 7 grandchildren; 1 brother Francis (Kathy) Longuski of Vassar; 1 sister Christine Schifko of Brighton; and several nieces and nephews. Louis was also preceded in death by his brother Jack.

 

The family of Mr. Longuski will greet friends today (Thursday, May 21) from 2-8 p.m., at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids.  A Scripture Service will begin at be 3:00 p.m., with Fr. Lam T. Le officiating.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at Dearborn Divine Child Catholic Church, with burial to follow in the St. Hedwig Cemetery in Dearborn.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made for Woodland Hospice, with envelopes available at the funeral home.  Share a memory or express condolences at www.mohnkefuneralhome.com.
