Big Rapids – Cecilia Rose Kersey, 82, of Big Rapids, passed away Friday, October 24, 2008, at Spectrum Health - Kent Community Hospital in Grand Rapids.
 
She was born February 15, 1926, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, the daughter of Henry and Sarah (Noel) Stottmann.  
 
On August 16, 1958, Rose married Robert F. Kersey, and they moved to Reed City. Robert preceded her in death in 1978, and she moved to Big Rapids in 1998 where she has lived since.
 
Rose was a member of St. Paul’s Campus Parish of Big Rapids. For many years, she had also volunteered her time working with the American Cancer Society, R.S.V.P., and the American Red Cross.
 
Surviving are 2 daughters, Karen (Bernard) Renne of Big Rapids and Paula Peters of Clinton Township; 5 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; 1 sister, Mary Eakins, and 3 brothers, John (Margaret) Stottmann, Paul Stottmann, and Jerome (Pamela) Stottmann, all of Oklahoma; and many nieces and nephews. Rose was also preceded in death by 2 sisters and 1 brother.
 
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 29, at St. Paul’s Campus Parish in Big Rapids, with Rev. Lam T. Le officiating.  Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Reed City. Memorial contributions for St. Mary’s Catholic School may be left at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, where Rose’s family will greet friends Tuesday, October 28, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., and also after 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.  The Rosary Service will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
