Big Rapids – Evelyn D. Colley, 79, of Grant Township, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2008, at Altercare of Big Rapids.
 
She was born February 19, 1929 in Reed City, the daughter of Harry and Zetta (Thayer) Carlson, and lived in the area most of her life.
 
For 20 years, Evelyn worked as a technician for Michigan Bell Telephone until retiring.  She was an avid bowler, having won many different trips and awards for her skill. 
 
In 1947, she married Joseph L. Colley, who preceded her in death in 1988.  Surviving are a son, Rex (JoAnn) Colley of Big Rapids; a daughter, Evelyn (Ron) Duff of Paris; 4 grandchildren, John (Laine) Colley, Renee (Eric) Earle, Kelly (Thad) Phelps, and Karey (Alex) McWain; 4 great grandchildren, Mike, Ceejae, Dylan, and Kaleb; a special niece Diana (Larry) Kagas; and several other nieces and nephews.
 
Family services will take place at the South Grant Center Cemetery, with burial to follow.  Memorial contributions in Evelyn’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.  Arrangements are entrusted to the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids.
