Big Rapids – Ronald Curtis Root, 51, of Murrietta, CA, formerly of Big Rapids, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2008, in California following a lengthy illness.

He was born October 31, 1956, in Big Rapids, the son of Ernie and Marcy Root, and graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1975.  Ron studied business and accounting at Ferris State College, and following his graduation, he spent his career in the banking industry.  .

Surviving are his brother, Lawrence (Judy) Root of Big Rapids; nieces Robyn (Chad) Boerma and their son Dylan of Canadian Lakes, Colleen (Kevin) Shaw and their daughter Hadleigh of Ashville, NC; and his longtime companion Kathy Cuneo of Murrietta.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
Family memorial services will be held at a later date.  Memorial contributions in his name for the Michigan Organ Bank may be left in care of the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids.
